Many cultures use the symbol of the heart with the wings to represent a place between heaven and earth.  I was inspired to make this piece by a trip to New Mexico a few years back where this symbol is heavily represented among the native Americans dwelling there.  With this, I wanted to expand on that idea of unlocking the heart  and use it to remind us to open our hearts as so many of us need love and understanding.
